Six o'clock. The hall is full: two hundred people. Priya is ill, so the show has one act less now. Then Gabe has an idea. “Mia, what if you don't just draw? What if you draw the audience? Live. One by one.”

Mia's hands are shaking. Sam goes on stage first to host. He's telling jokes, and people are laughing. Noah is juggling five balls. Gabe is changing the lights from blue to gold. Leo is filming with his dad's camera, and every act appears on the big screen.

Then it's Mia. She walks on stage without speaking. The audience can watch her drawing on the big screen: a grandmother in the front row, a crying baby, Jo, Kyle from the basketball team. People clap for every face. At the end, the whole hall is standing. Afterwards, two people from the audience join the club. Sam counts the names on the club list. “Nineteen. We've got nineteen members.” He looks at the clock. Tomorrow is the first of December.
