The story

The event is going to be a talent show: “Riverside's Got Talent”, on Saturday 30 November, in the school hall. Everybody from the town can come. The club makes a sign-up sheet. “Can you sing? Dance? Do magic? Tell jokes? Sign up!”
After one week, there are only three names. Noah can juggle. Sam's cousin can do card tricks. And a Year 9 girl, Priya, can sing. “Three acts,” says Leo. “That's a five-minute show.”
Mia tries to help. She talks to people in her class. “Can you sing or play an instrument? Could you dance when you were younger?” Most people laugh and say no. Then Ava turns to Mia. “And you? You can draw faster than anyone. You could draw people live, on stage.” Mia's face goes white. “No. I can't. I can't go on stage.”
